Bright pur­ple. A heady, expan­sive bou­quet dis­plays scents of ripe black­cur­rant, pot­pour­ri, woodsmoke and fruit­cake. All­spice and cola qual­i­ties come up with aer­a­tion and car­ry onto the palate, where sweet dark fruit liqueur and licorice pastille fla­vors show some seri­ous weight. Sur­pris­ing­ly ener­getic giv­en its brawn, this Syrah-based blend fin­ish­es sweet and very long, with sup­ple tan­nins sneak­ing in to con­tribute structure.
