The Syrah-dom­i­nant 2023 Noir smol­ders with a men­tho­lat­ed mix of crushed blackberries,

cam­phor-tinged cur­rants, dried herbs, incense and pine shav­ings. It is silken, near­ly vel­vety in feel, if not for a core of fresh acid­i­ty to bal­ance, as per­fumed wild berry fruits swirl through­out. Spicy, pep­pery and long, the 2023 Noir leaves a coat­ing of firm­ing tan­nins, under­pinned by laven­der and spice. This is an iron fist in a vel­vet glove. — 96 pts
