2012 noir - 92 pts from The Wine Advocate
My favorite in the lineup, the 2012 Noir is a smoking blend of 89% Syrah and 11% Counoise that was 16 months in 50% new and 50% 1‑year-old French oak barrels. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and polished on the palate, with a supple, rounded texture and polished tannin, it gives up beautiful notes of chocolaty dark fruits, black olive, pepper and hints of licorice on the nose. As with all of Kevin’s wines, this has solid richness and texture, yet it stays balanced, lively and very drinkable. It should continue to impress for another 4 – 5 years.
