The 2022 Kivi com­bines 58% Syrah with 42% Mourvè­dre, offer­ing up black-fruit­ed, sweet­ly con­cen­trat­ed aro­mas with sub­tle accents of espres­so and bram­ble. The palate is mas­sive, lav­ish and pol­ished, fin­ished with a rich, choco­laty deca­dence propped up by pow­dery tan­nins and hints of suc­cu­lent acid­i­ty. While this is decid­ed­ly opu­lent, its con­cen­tra­tion helps bal­ance out the harsh­ness so often found in this vin­tage. 92 pts
